BERLIN (AP) — Former Germany winger Bastian Schweinsteiger says Pep Guardiola shares blame for the national team’s decline, telling British radio station Talksport that Germany lost its values because of the Spanish coach.“When Pep Guardiola joined Bayern Munich, when he came to the country, everyone believed we have to play this kind of football, like short passes and everything. We were kind of losing our values,” Schweinsteiger told Talksport on Thursday.Schweinsteiger, who works as a TV pundit, played under Guardiola for two seasons at Bayern following the former Barcelona coach’s arrival in Munich in 2013. Schweinsteiger left the club in 2015, while Guardiola left for Manchester City in 2016.“I think most of the other countries were looking at Germany as a fighter, we can run until the end and everything. The strengths got lost through the last seven, eight years. We forgot about that and were more focused on playing the ball nicely to each other. That’s one of the reasons,” Sc...Pogacar wins Pyrenees big stage and Vingegaard claims Tour de France yellow jersey

CAUTERETS-CAMBASQUE, France (AP) — Tadej Pogacar was not done yet.Just 24 hours after losing more than a minute to his biggest rival at the Tour de France — defending champion Jonas Vingegaard — Pogacar showed he was not ready to give up, and revived the suspense at cycling’s biggest race.Two-time champion Pogacar, who was dethroned by Vingegaard last summer, claimed a 10th career stage win on Thursday after a stunning counterattack that dropped the reigning champion in the finale of the second and last stage in the Pyrenees. “I would not say revenge, but it’s good to win today and take back some time,” Pogacar said after an epic day of racing in thin air. “I feel a little bit of relief and feel much better now.”Vingegaard crossed the finish line 24 seconds behind Pogacar following their pulsating duel and seized the yellow jersey, 25 seconds ahead of his Slovenian rival.“I would say it’s almost perfect the gap, and it’s going to be a big, big battle until th...Best places to live without a car? VATICAN CITY (AP) — Pope Francis travels to the periphery of Roman Catholicism later this summer when he becomes the first pontiff to visit Mongolia, a Central Asian nation squeezed between Russia and China with just 1,500 Catholics. The visit is steeped in geopolitical significance as it will be closely watched by both Russia, which controlled Mongolia during the Soviet era, and China, which is seeking to exert its influence through the Belt and Road initiative. No pope has visited either of those nations, and the pope is likely to choose to fly over China on his way, rather than Russia, which is waging war in Ukraine. Following papal custom, Francis can be expected to send a brief telegram to Chinese authorities in recognition, from which a word or two of meaning could be parsed, said Giorgio Bernadelli, editorial coordinator of the missionary news organization Asia News.Francis has been trying to toe a diplomatic line with both countries, sending an envoy to Russia in a bid for a p...Dog's body dumped on Boulder road, suspect wanted
